DLZ Corporation has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer in Merrillville, IN .
The Senior Structural Engineer/Project Manager Position requires working on projects in heavy industry, metals, chemical/petrochemical or environmental projects. The position responsibilities will include: group leadership, meeting with Clients, preparing proposals, coordination with other disciplines, design, project forecasts, cost estimates, project and budget management, as well as the structural system installation review during construction for general compliance with construction documents. Potential to work with DLZ’s other offices providing structural design assistance on architectural and civil projects as well.
Designated as Lead Structural Engineer, mentor other structural staff.
Prepare engineering drawings and technical specifications for various types of projects including industrial facilities,
Design of a variety of structural systems including: structural steel, complex steel shapes (hoods, vessels, tanks, etc.), reinforced concrete structures – including (but not limited to) framed construction, flat slabs and composite construction; shallow and deep foundations – including (but not limited to) piles and caissons; and masonry structures.
Perform structural inspections and assessments on existing structures and develop reports including any necessary repair procedures.
Develop structural analysis and design calculations using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas and experience.
Prepare proposals, estimate, scope jobs, plan, and budget.
Control and/or review all project forecasts, schedules, cost estimates and reports. Responsible for quality control over the complete project.
Work on concurrent projects.
Provide technical leadership on design team
Possess aptitude to act as a positive representative of the company and its core values.
Perform all work in a safe and responsible manner, in accordance with the Health and Safety Plan.
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with Structural Engineering concentration required, Master’s degree preferred
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of IN and/or Registered Structural Engineer (SE) in the state of IL required
10 or more years of progressively responsible experience in structural engineering
AutoCAD / REVIT experience preferred
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and practice proactive time-management.
Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites, which may require overnight stays, while complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements.
